MSP CONSULTING FROM SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY RAN ONE
Are you running your MSP, or is it running you?
I spent 24 years building and running an MSP from the ground up. Now I help MSP owners improve operations, margins, pricing, service delivery, technology decisions, and owner independence — without the vendor pitch.
No sales script. Bring me the problem that's driving you crazy.
I also build and sell software, and some of it is commercial. Consulting and product are separate conversations — what I recommend does not depend on you buying any of it, including when the right tool is one I did not write.

THE ACTUAL PROBLEM
Most MSP problems aren't technical problems.
They show up as tickets, tool problems, staffing problems, difficult clients, bad margins, and constant interruptions. But the real problem is usually underneath all of that.
01
Reactive operations
Everything becomes urgent. Technicians live in the queue and the owner becomes the final escalation point.
02
Pricing that grew by accident
Pricing evolved one customer at a time and nobody can clearly explain which agreements are actually good business.
03
Too many exceptions
Every customer gets something different, creating complexity that quietly destroys efficiency.
04
Tool sprawl
Another dashboard. Another agent. Another monthly bill. But the underlying operational problem never gets fixed.
05
Owner dependency
Sales, escalations, purchasing, strategy, vendor decisions and major client relationships still route through the owner.
06
Bad visibility
There is plenty of data, but very little useful information telling the owner what actually needs attention.
These are fixable problems. And the answer usually isn't another tool.
HOW I CAN HELP
Three ways to work together.
Pick the one that matches where you actually are. If you're not sure, book the free hour and we'll work it out on the call.
Focused MSP Diagnostic
$150/hour
A specific problem or decision you want a second set of eyes on.
WHAT HAPPENS
- We talk for an hour on a video call.
- You describe the problem. I ask the questions that usually matter.
- You leave with a direction, not a proposal.
- Follow-up notes afterwards, plus my cell number.
MSP Business Reboot
Custom
For MSPs where several problems turn out to be the same problem.
WHAT HAPPENS
- A deep look at how the business actually runs day to day.
- A review of the numbers with you, not a generic benchmark.
- We agree what gets fixed first and in what order.
- Implementation support while the changes actually land.
Not a 90-page consulting deck. Let's figure out what's actually broken and start fixing it.
Discuss a Reboot →Ongoing MSP Advisor
$500/month
An experienced operator on call when you need an outside read.
WHAT HAPPENS
- Four hours a month, scheduled around you.
- Email access between calls.
- Process reviews and tool evaluations when you need them.
- A straight answer, including when the answer is "leave it alone".
HOW IT WORKS
No 87-page transformation plan. Fix the important stuff first.
1
Diagnose
Figure out what is actually broken instead of treating symptoms.
2
Prioritize
Identify the problems costing the most time, money, complexity, or sanity.
3
Fix
Change the process, pricing, tooling, agreement, responsibility, or behavior causing the problem.
4
Measure
See whether the business actually improved.
Your numbers matter. Generic MSP calculators don't know your business.
Every MSP has a different client mix, labour cost, service scope, market, overhead and set of agreements. A form with six fields cannot tell you what your business should be earning, and any site that says otherwise is selling you certainty it does not have.
Benchmarks are worth discussing in context. They are not universal truths. The useful version of this work is looking at your actual operation and figuring out what makes sense for it.
FIT
Who this is for.
MSP Reboot is probably for you if…
- You're still the final escalation for everything.
- Revenue grew but your workload didn't get easier.
- You don't have a clear picture of which clients are worth keeping.
- Your technology stack keeps getting bigger.
- You know your pricing needs work.
- Your technicians are constantly reactive.
- You have too many client-specific exceptions.
- You're thinking about buying or selling an MSP.
- You're considering a major vendor or technology decision.
- You want advice from someone who isn't being paid by a vendor.
Probably not for you if…
- You want a magic growth hack.
- You want another tool instead of fixing the process.
- You want someone to tell you everything is fine.
- You're unwilling to change anything.
- You're looking for guaranteed financial results.
FREE RESOURCES
Practical stuff, free, no email required.
Checklists and reviews built from running the business, plus the tools I actually recommend. Take them and use them whether or not we ever talk.
FREE PROJECTS
Free tools I built for MSPs.
I still build software. Some of it solves problems that irritated me enough that I built the answer myself — and some of it I simply give away. Self-hosted, no per-seat billing.
Client St0r
Open SourceSelf-hosted IT documentation and asset management for MSPs.
Documentation platforms bill per seat, so nobody gives the junior tech a licence and the documentation stops being written.
OpnMgr
Open SourceCentralised management for a fleet of OPNsense firewalls.
Applying an update across twenty firewalls means logging into twenty firewalls.
Depl0y
Open SourceProxmox VM deployment without clicking through the same build every time.
Standing up a VM by hand is ten minutes of identical clicking, and it gets done slightly differently every time.
St0r
Open SourceA usable web interface for UrBackup.
Checking backups is a daily chore, so it quietly becomes a weekly one, and then it becomes the thing you find out about during a restore.
Rem0te
Open SourceMulti-tenant remote support built on RustDesk.
Per-technician remote support licensing gets expensive fast, and the hosted options own your session data.
Net Agit8or
Free ToolWeb-based network troubleshooting, nothing to install.
You need a traceroute from somewhere that is not the client site, and you need it now.
PRODUCTS & PAID RESOURCES
Some problems need more than a free utility.
These are the products and hosted services I've built around problems MSPs deal with every day. How you start differs by product — some have an open trial, most begin with a short evaluation.

— 24-year MSP owner. Built one. Ran one. Sold one.
Bring me the MSP problem you keep putting off.
Pricing. Clients. Staffing. Tools. Tickets. Margins. Security. Growth. Exit planning. Whatever it is, we'll spend an hour looking at the actual problem instead of pitching you another platform.
If I'm not the right person to help, I'll tell you.
